Environmental Advocacy
Our Environmental Advocacy work is the quiet, steady effort that keeps the lake healthy for swimming, fishing, and family memories. Through Water Quality Monitoring, volunteers regularly sample and track conditions so we can spot changes early and speak with facts in hand. GLCC is currently under contract with PLM (https://www.plmcorp.net/) for their holistic approach to lake management and weed control.
Environmental Education Outreach turns that data into simple, useful guidance for everyday life-how to handle yard waste, choose safe products, and prevent runoff that clouds the water. Pollution Prevention Initiatives focus on practical projects, from organizing shoreline cleanups to promoting sensible septic and stormwater practices. When neighbors join in, we build a shared understanding of what the lake needs and a stronger voice when decisions are made about nearby land use. Your support-whether you're attending a meeting, helping with testing, or simply following best practices at home-directly protects the water, wildlife, and quiet character that drew us all here in the first place.
